I am Saurav Pushkar. I want to invest 5000 per month in mutual fund. Which is the best fund for long term about 40 years. Please suggest me
Firstly you have made the correct decision to invest in mutual funds over a sufficiently long investment horizon through SIP. Over 40 year investment horizon you can create substantial wealth, if you invest regularly on a monthly basis. Since you plan to start with an SIP of Rs 5,000 you should invest in 1 or at most 2 equity funds. As and when you increase your investment amount you can add funds to your portfolio. You can choose between large cap, flexicap or midcap funds, depending on your risk appetite. Large cap funds have the lowest volatility among the three equity fund categories. Midcap funds have the highest volatility and flexicap is somewhere between large cap and midcap funds. Over a long investment horizon you should select consistent performers, because they tend outperform over a long investment horizon.
